Miami Florida

This year has been an adventure already. Breaking norms and beating average at the 10x Growth Conference! Through this life changing journey, Miami has felt like a second home. Travel isn’t only meant for vacation, but for purpose, business, and enjoyment all wrapped into one. Who said business can’t be fun?

If there’s one thing I love about Miami, it’s the diversity of the people, the culture they bring to the table, and their willingness to show up authentically. Many people were happy to share with us why they chose to live in Miami, their goals for success in the city, and about where they originated from.

It was easy to see why all of them said Miami was pretty! Amongst the enormous sky scrapers, immaculate hotels, and condos, there is beauty in the landscape. What would normally be considered an eye sore to some is masked with beautiful beaches, palm trees lining the streets and walk ways, gorgeous homes, and sunshine.

Landing in this beautiful city with no time to waste, we headed straight to Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. I highly suggest dropping your luggage off in the main house (the museum) and grab a cup of joe and/or small bite to eat (at the on-site cafe & gift shop) when you first arrive. After, take your time to stroll through the beautifully landscaped gardens, snap some gorgeous photos, and enjoy the breeze of the ocean lining the property. These gardens are meant for magazines quite literally and figuratively, as we witnessed and became onlookers of the high end kids brand Janie and Jack photo shoot taking place.

On your way back from the already impressive gardens, you will be in awe of the house’s interior architecture and design. Not to give it away, but our absolute favorite was the space with ceiling to floor stain glass windows, overlooking the scenic garden views. It’s a bit of a teaser though as I’d love to share with you an image of what I’ve described, but out of respect for the property, we did not take photos of the interior spaces. They had asked us not to.

The owner of this magnificent property was none other than James Deering, easily mistaken for John Deere, but both in the manufacturing of agricultural machinery. By the early 1900’s, he was one of America’s wealthiest people. His architectural desire was to create a house that competed with European wealth, and prove to do it better in America. Much of the home was made of limestone, and made by men who were experts in carving it.

Taking in the rich history of historic Miami was followed up by a more recent history, a culture of artists. They didn’t just want to share their works of art, their visions, their heart in a closed gallery. They thought bigger, much bigger, and took on the walls of the city! Masterpiece after masterpiece, you will pass as you walk the streets of downtown Wynwood. In the heart of the art district, there is something for everyone, a representation of what appeals to you as an individual. I couldn’t resist taking a photo with teeth, being a dental hygienist myself! It’s bright, colorful, creative, and fun at Wynwood Walls.

Throughout your day, explore the shops and local restaurants. Starting at 4pm the Wynwood Market Place opens, so stick around for a good time. There are vendors, food, and live music for everyone to enjoy.

Red Buddha Bar & Hookah Lounge

But what would Miami be without Miami Beach? That is the initial thought many have when they plan their visit. On this particular trip, we ventured out a little further to Hollywood Beach. By staying at a local condo, Marine Villas, we were able to take a 1 minute walk to the beach, and within 5-10 minutes down the path lining the beach, there were restaurants, bars, bike rentals, and a local convenient store in case you forgot anything. Our best moments were spent jumping through the waves and laying on the beach, soaking up the sun, with our feet in the sand. We spent one evening enjoying live music and a delicious meal at Grumpy Gary’s Bar & Grill. They have live music every night and are the highlight of the evening for locals and travelers alike. For a more calm atmosphere, try the Red Buddha Bar and Hookah Lounge. This spot is family owned with a personal touch. The lighting makes for a peaceful evening, with amazing pizza & wings. But if you’re looking for something more than comfortable cushioned seating, they have hot tubs to indulge in!

Miami and the Hollywood Beach area have been wonderful to us this year. There is a home there for anyone who wants to find it in their heart. The people, the beauty, the walkability, create a place that’s easy to love.
